Going back to work doesn’t mean that you have to stop breastfeeding. WIC supports breastfeeding parents as they get ready to return to work or school.
Breastfeeding and returning to work or school
Many parents keep breastfeeding after returning to work or school. You can too! This booklet is designed to help you do just that.
Know your breastfeeding rights
Did you know that as a breastfeeding parent you have certain rights? There are laws in place to help you meet your breastfeeding goals, including laws about breastfeeding in public and pumping at work.
You can talk to your local WIC office about breastfeeding laws in your area. Learn more about your rights as a breastfeeding employee in California.

Breast pumps for working parents and students
When parents return to work or school, their own milk continues to be the best food for their babies. WIC parents who work full time or attend school for long hours may be eligible for an electric breast pump at no cost to you.
